Development of a Web Based Training Solution
    (2008) Ali Abdel Gadir Ali
Abstract The major training institutions in Sudan has its participants distributed throughout the country which presents a geographical distribution problem, because most of these institutions located in Khartoum and it has a limited number of trainers; therefore, the option of sending the trainers, who work in teams of two individuals- a tutor and an assistant- is sometimes difficult if not impossible and very costy. Moreover, the cost of bringing participants to the locations where these institutions resides including the cost of transportation, residence, living and other fees is sometimes very high. In addition to the difficulties of post training activities which includes the follow up, helpdesk services and training assessment. Since , web based training is the most effective method to meet the training needs of individuals located in remote areas and provide them with the required training that intended for them to improve their skills and knowledge, this thesis proposed the web based training applications as a solution to this problem. The developed WBT application is intended for delivering training to remotely distributed participants using the web based training concept, it consists of two layers which are the learning management system i.e. the system which controls the overall training process and the course delivery system i.e. the training courses and the downloadable materials that available to the participant.
