    Analysis of Listening and Speaking Skills in Sudan Practical Integrated National English (SPINE) Book III

    ABSTRACT This dissertation is an analysis of the content of Listening and Speaking skills in Spine lll for the Sudan. The purpose of this text evaluation is to find out to what extent listening and speaking skills are stressed and which aspects are emphasized in this course. The first chapter of this dissertation is an introduction which briefly states the problem, purpose, significance and the questions that this research attempts to answer. The final part of this chapter gives the organization and the limitation of the study. The theoretical framework is stated and explained in chapter two. The theoretical framework includes explanation of the aspects of listening and speaking from a linguistic and a pedagogical point of view. It also includes a checklist for developing a comprehension process. Chapter three critically reviews some of the relevant studies as a literature review which relates with textbook evaluation. Chapter four deals with an analysis of the textbook (Spine 111) in terms of content, physical layout and methodology which is based on the developed checklist. The final chapter (Five) summarizes the most important principles, making conclusions and implication for the classroom practitioner and materials producers.
