Groundwater Quality Assessment in EL Fasher Area
(Neelain University, 2017) Abdelmohssin Salih Ibrahim Deen
ABSTRACT This study is done for Evaluation of Groundwater Quality Based on Chemical Properties in El Fashir Town located at latitude 130 37/ N and longitude 250 22/ E. The aim of the study is to evaluate the groundwater quality and delineate the hydrochemical facies at study area. During field work twenty (20) water samples were collected for chemical analyses. The analyses have been done at Water and Environmental Sanitation Project laboratory (WES) in Al Fashir town. All water samples were analyzed, according to standard methods for water examination. GIS technique was used to construct water sample location sites, Surfer software for distribution the concentration of elements values in the study area and Strater Demo-4 software for lithostratigraphic cross-sections. Chemical data were manipulated using Piper Diagram for chemical facies and SPSS software for statistical analyses such as basic statistics (mean and standard deviation). The results of chemical show that groundwater in the study area are good for domestic uses with few exception and according to Piper Diagram the dominant water type is Ca2+ - Mg2+ - Na+ - HCO3- facies. One of the main recommendations of this study, more studies of water quality in the area, in addition to this installing Automatic Logger to monitor groundwater fluctuation, also reconstruction of Wadi Haloof dam to contribute the groundwater recharge in the area.
