geochemical brosbectincandexbloration for cold and assoclated elemets in jebel moya area sennar state south eastern sudan
(Neelain University, 2014) . Osman Abuagla Daffalla Hamed
. . Abstract Jebel Moya area is located in-Sennar State in the south eastem part of the Sudan. The area is an important link between northern and southern terrains of the late Proterozoic Pan Afiican Arabian Nubian Shield (ANS), which is characterized by exhalative volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits and associated Au and Ag metals hosted by low grade volcano-sedimentary sequences. The objective of the present study is to carry out geochemical exploration for gold and associated elements using geochemical survey for the first time in this region of the Sudan. Previous geological investigations revealed the existence of low grade volcano- sedimentary sequences, granulite facies rocks and granitoid batholic around J. Moya at the center of the study area. . An orientational stream‘ sediment geochemical survey for gold using different. size fractions (-63 |J.,—80|J.,-12511) has been applied. This step proved to be very important for selecting the effective traction for further detailed exploratory work in the terrain. The whole area was covered by low density (lsamplel l0 km sq.) sampling pogram using -63 n which resulted in high values for Au, As, Ba, Cr, Th, Ti, U, V and Zn. Sampling includes also collection of 62 chip composite. All samples have been analyzed for gold using Wet analysis techniques with very low detection limits and ICP- MS techniques for associated elements in OMAC laboratories. Chip samples also recorded high concentrations of Au, As, Ba, Fe, S, Pb, V, Zn, U, Th. According to the geochemical treatment by using Statistica software applications such as statistics parameters bivariate and multivariate analyses for the element(s), various anomalies have been obtained and followed up by chip samples from the catchments areas. Eight gossanic bodies reported for the first time in the study area. Chip samples for the gossans recorded high concentrations of Au, Cu, Zn, Th and U. Newlmineralized structures have been discovered for the first time in the J. Moya area. Further detailed exploration work is recommended to evaluate the economic potentiality of the mineralized structures. Stream sediment geochemical survey proved the effective prospecting and exploration tool in similar terrenes. Five mineralization zones recognized within the newly discovered mineralized structures. Those are; Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, Zone D and Zone E.
