Abstract The contact lenses are widely used today for different purpose; therapeutics (correction of vision) and non-therapeutics (cosmetics), the problem associated with contact lenses wear are potentially sight threatening which require rapid diagnosis and treatment to prevent vision loss. This study aimed to determine the rate of bacterial colonization in contact lenses and identify the bacterial agents associated with contact lens wearers. Also aimed to determine the total bacteria count and the susceptibility of the isolated bacteria to some common antibiotics. Simple random samples were collected from October to November 2019 from 40 females; samples were taken from lenses by using sterile cotton swab moistened with normal saline under aseptic condition. The swabs were immediately inoculated on nutrient agar. Bacterial cultures obtained were identified using Gram stain and performed the biochemical reactions tests. Serial dilution ten -fold and standard disc diffusion teclmiques were used to determine the total bacterial count and susceptibility of the isolates to antibiotics respectively. The result showed positive bacterial colonization in 27 samples with percentage 67.75% .The most common isolated organisms were Pseudomonas aeruginosa followed by Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. Gentamicin and Amoxyclv were found to be antibiotic of choice for Escherichia coli, Nalidixic acid for Pseudomanas aeruginosa,Chloramphenicol for Staphylococcus aureus. The counting of isolates were ranged between 4>
