(جامعة النيلين, 2007) نجاة أحمد حسن محمد علي
Abstract This study aims at investigatig the distribution of population across the Sudanese — Chadian political boundaries, with the purpose of evaluating the impact of the massive presence of Chadian nationals in Sudanese territory on the political relations between Sudan and Chad. The methodology adapted in this study is comprised of historical and analytical methods. The study gives a geographical description of the study area. Then it goes to describe the population and tribal distribution in the area, focusing on the economic activities and tracing the historical background of the correlation between these population groups. Special emphasis was put on the massive presence of Chadian nationals in Darfur. The nature of the political boundary between the two countries was then studied, the role of British and French imperialism in fmalizing this boundary was highlighted and the major problems related to this boundary were stated. Finally the development of political relations between the two countries in recent year was traced and some suggestions were given to overcome the factors underlying the current bad political relations between the two countries, based on the positive aspects of the distribution of population across the political boundary.
