    هدفت الدراسة إلى استخدام نظم المعلومات الجغرافية Geographic Information System في عمليات المسوح الأثرية في علم الآثار في السودان ،وإمكانية تسجيل وحصر المواقع الأثرية بإحداثياتها ،وربطها بالمعلومات المكانية الخاصة ،وعمل خرائط توزيعية للمواقع الأثرية ،وبناء قواعد بيانات له، وقد توصلت الدراسة الى أن علم نظم المعلومات الجغرافية يُمِكن من ربط المعلومات الخاصة بالمواقع الأثرية بموقعها المكاني الصحيح بصورة دقيقة، وهذا يساعد كثيراً في وصف الظواهر الأثرية مع تحديد موقعها وإمكانية ربطها بقاعدة بيانات خاصة بها ،مما يساعد علماء الآثار على الاحتفاظ بمعلومات تفصيلية عن المواقع الأثرية. وتوصي الدراسة مستقبلا بإدخال نظم المعلومات الجغرافية في مراحل العمل الأثري لما لها من فائدة في هذا الجانب. Abstract: The paper investigate the use of Geographic information systems GIS in archaeological fieldwork in documenting and positioning archaeological sites. GIS as one of many useful sciences are using in archaeology and attempt to use it in archaeological site to record and attribute information about the sites and its features to value the possibility of use GIS in archaeology to construct database. The result of this study is: GIS used to documenting the archaeological sites successful and related between the coordinates of the site and discretional information in attribute table, this relationship is very useful and important in archaeology to describe the site and relative archaeological feature. The study recommended that, the GIS using in archaeological can contribute mainly to save many information about archaeological sites and avoid loosing of information.
