Abstract: Abstract Background : Anatomical variations of the cystic artery are commonly encountered during cholecystectomy. In most of the cases, the cystic artery arises from the right hepatic artery. The other origins include the left hepatic artery, the proper hepatic artery, the common hepatic artery, the gastroduodenal artery, the superior pancreaticduodenal artery, liver parenchyma and the superior mesenteric artery In addition to the variability in origin of the cystic artery, its course can also follow different path, loaction, position, and branches. This emphasizes the importance of a thorough knowledge of the cystic arterial variations that often occur and may be encountered during both open and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Uncontrolled bleeding from the cystic artery and its branches is a serious problem that may increase the risk of intraoperative lesions to vital vascular and biliary structures Methods: Descriptive cross sectional study based of on study designs it will included 90 patient underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy ,the gender is determind, the study conducted in speslized center in Khartoum Results: This study documents variations in the origin of the cystic artery and its location, number of branch in relation to the biliary ducts among 90 Sudanese people and compared the variations between the data and sexes . The cystic artery originated from the right hepatic artery in 91,1% of cases, the single cystic artery is most variant type by 83.3 % of cases, 91.1 % of cases the cystic artery located within callot triangle ,51.1% of cases of cystic artery had three branch in callot triangle. No differences were found between the sexes. recommendations: 1. Encourage more study and research either cadaveric or operative study for more detailing . 2. all operator (surgeons, resident, trainee…etc) involved in cholecystectomy should be get all scientific study of different variation of cystic artery in Sudanese patient.
